Purpose:

The purpose of this article is show you the 3rd party applications that can be used to upload your video/audio files to our servers for on demand streaming. We will only be covering the software but this does not mean will be providing support. We do have tutorials on how you use Windows Explorer and FileZilla

  1. Windows Explorer

The Windows Explorer displays an interface that is friendlier than other FTP clients which will allow you to drag and drop to copy files or use any Windows options such and Copy and Paste. For large transfers, it’s recommend to use an FTP client such as Filezilla, which uses accelerators as the Windows transfer rate is slower.

  1. FileZilla (Windows, Linux, *BSD, Mac OS X, and more)

FileZilla is an open-source cross-platform FTP client. This, together with its high speed is the source of its popularity. FileZilla supports file transfer protocol (FTP), FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS), and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

This client offers two different ways to connect to an FTP, depending on where the server is located –either on your LAN, or on the Internet. The Site Manager options are helpful when you are going to store and configure some settings regarding the target FTP. The QuickConnect function, as its name implies, is used to perform establish connections on the fly.

How to use Filezilla FTP (FTP Client for On-Demand Services)

  1. Free FTP (Windows)

Free FTP is intended to be easy to use. Features include multiple server profiles, the ability to transfer files in binary, ASCII, or auto mode. Free FTP includes drag and drop support and an easy to use and unique bookmarks tool. Free FTP works with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 8. With the bookmarks tool you can not only save server information but local information - so transferring files from a specific directory to a specific server is as simple as selecting a bookmark and then dragging and dropping the files to be transferred.

  1. FireFTP (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and more)

FireFTP is a unique FTP solution in that it is an addon for the Firefox browser. Because of this, it not only works across platforms, it also already works within a familiar environment. FireFTP features: SSL/TLS/SFTP support, directory comparison, and support for nearly all encoding. It also features a search and filter system, integrity checks, drag and drop, remote editing, file hashing, proxy support, FXP support, timestamp synchronization, CHMOD and recursive CHMOD changes, and much more.
