Purpose:
The following article will describe the procedure to successfully configure your Windows Media encoder or Microsoft Expression using the PULL method for streaming using a static IP address and a Dynamic IP address.
It is recommended to have a static IP address since it will make things easier.
Setup for Windows7 and Vista
1. First we need to obtain your public IP address by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/
Note: It is recommended that you have a static IP address.
2. If you don’t have a Static IP address, please setup a www.no-ip.com service.
3. We now need to setup a Static LAN IP address so click on Start, Run and type in “CMD”and click OK.
4. At the Command Prompt, type in “IPCONFIG”and hit enter.
5. Take note of the IPv4 IP address and the Gateway IP address.
6. Now we need to go to your Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center. Alternatively, you can copy the following address and paste it on your Windows Explorer.

7. On the left side of the click on the “Change Adapter Settings”
8. Right click on your Local Area Connection (You might have multiple connections so click on the one you will be streaming) and select “Properties”.
9. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click "Properties"
10. Select "Use the following address", enter your desired IP address and press the tab key on your keyboard.
11. Proceed to enter your gateway address as noted above, then add Preferred DNS server, which is your gateway address again. Note: No secondary DNS is required.
12. Click OK when done.
13. Proceed to download your preferred encoder:

14. Proceed to install the encoder on your machine
15. Setup your encoder for PULL using any of the following links:

16. Please note the port number that you assigned.
17. Now we need to setup Port Forwarding/Firewall on your router so open your Internet Browser.
18. Type the Gateway IP noted in to your internet browser's address bar. If you are having trouble, you might want to refer to the manufacturer of your router.
19. Depending on your router and setup, you might require to login.
20. Go to www.portforward.com. Find your Router model.
21. Once you select your router model, you will be presented with a sub-menu. Locate your router model number and click on it.
22. Follow the instructions, and replace port 80 with the Port Number you noted in Step 5.
23. Click the "Start Encoding"button at the top of your Windows Media Encoder.
24. Connect to your stream using the link provided in your Services Page in the NetroPortal.
Setup for Window XP
25. First we need to obtain your public IP address by going to http://www.whatismyip.com/
