Custom Multi-Platform Player
Introduction
The NetroPlayer can be used to view your playlist of live or on-demand streams arranged in a vertical list, which sits to the right of the player screen. This scrollable list shows three items at a time. You can scroll through the items using the “up”and “down”arrows or your mouse wheel, or “sweep”if using a touch screen (on an iPad, for example). Click any item in the playlist to play that stream. The streams are ordered by external media RSS file, named playlist.rss by default.
This player can be viewed on desktop computers using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, or Chrome. Alternately, it also works on any smartphone –Apple iDevices (ie. iPad, iPhone), Androids, and Blackberries, and the RIM PlayBook. For more details on viewing the NetroPlayer, see the “Notes on Customization”.
Supported file types:
–“.mp4”, “.mov”, “.m4v”, “.f4v”, “.m4a”, “.3gp”, “.mp3”, “flv”
Notes on Customization
The NetroPlayer can detect whether you’re accessing it from a PC, an iPhone, iPad, or iPod, an Android, or a Blackberry. Once it senses which of these you are using, it will display in the best mode for that device. The playlist will always be shown in the same way, but there are three different player screens the NetroPlayer can default to:
• On PCs and PlayBooks, you will see the default Flowplayer
• On Apple iDevices, you will see an HTML5 player
• On Androids and Blackberries, you will get an image of a player;when clicked, this image opens the device’s default video player
To fully skin this player, all three interfaces need to be customized.
Flowplayer
Our Flowplayer is highly customizable. Check out everything that can be changed: http://login.netromedia.com/Solutions/View.aspx?ID=c1d73981-c247-476e-8690-28d33ab3852b
HTML5 player
Slightly less modifiable than the Flowplayer, the HTML5 player allows for height, width, and splash screen customization.
Android/Blackberry Player
This is a picture of a player screen that when clicked, opens a video in your default player. This video will be the most recently viewed video in the playlist, or, (if none have been viewed yet), the first video in the playlist. While you cannot control your viewers’default on-board video player, you can replace the player screen with your own image.
Playlist
You can customize your playlist with the provided CSS template and your own playlist item background images.
